Spending time w/ my Lil'Man

Today was a great day for us. We got up and played together, went to the mall and got photos taken with Santa, and went to the park to run out all of our energy. Being in my profession is very taxing. There are many days where I feel like I have shorted my son on "us time". By the time I get home, I am ready to wind down and relax....and he is ready to go, go, GO. Today was very nice for both of us.
The reason I am in the Santa photos is because he was unwilling to do it by himself. He would not even sit between Santa and myself. He got to the far side of the chair and took his time settling so that we could get a shot. It was very funny. He has just recently gotten to the "I want momma" phase. He has also started saying certain words. They may not all be clear as a bell, but we know what he is saying. It is too cute.

Christmas Photos

Tis the season for taking as many photos as possible. As my lil'man grows up, he changes by the hour.....or so it seems. This time of year, I get the camera out and try to capture as many pictures as possible. Today I took Hunter to the local mall to see what cute decorations they had displayed. We found two Christmas trees and a Santa Hut. They also had flowers and snowmen lining the fountain in the center of the mall. We decided to stop and take random photos. The elder people, that walk the mall daily, stopped to help me gain his attention long enough to get cute shots. They all had nice things to say about him. They told me how cute he was, what a handful he must be, and how well developed he was for his age. I realized that he is already 13 months old. It took forever for a year to get here and now a month has flown by. It is just crazy. Anyways, I am posting some of the photos that we snapped while out and about. In some of the pictures, you can probably see the scratches on his face. I have told yall that he is very independent.....and this means walking himself to the car when we have an outting. He was walking through the grass when he tripped on his own foot and ate the ground. Since it is winter, most of the vegetation had died off and become firm. Well, it reached up and grabbed his right cheek.....so now he is sporting battle wounds. But he is still super handsome. :)

Holiday thoughts

Christmas is almost here.....but what about Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is good food, family, and fun. The worst part about Christmas is the commericalization of gift giving. People get so caught up in who got what gifts and how much someone spent. The gifts should come from the heart and you should give when you feel moved to do so. I don't need someone to tell me when to give a loved one a present. I feel like it takes away from the true meaning of Christmas. The children of today know that Christmas means Santa Clause and presents. Jesus who???? Our children don't know why we truly celebrate this holiday. I would much rather spend Christmas with family and friends, hanging out and enjoying each others company. I don't want to feel like I have to buy a gift for someone and I certainly don't want someone to feel like they have to get me something. I will do my very best to make sure that my lil'man understands the importance of family time and celebrates the true meaning of the day that we call Christmas. In Christ we have everlasting life!

Happy Holidays to all my friends and family. May you be wrapped in the loving arms of my Lord and savior. Forget the stress and drama and just be thankful for all you have been giving, because we are not worthy of anything we have received.

Winter Weather

It's been getting so cold here. I have enjoyed dressing lil'man up in all sorts of cute winter clothes. He just went to the doctor and he is 26 lbs. and 32 inches. He has had bad allergies that come with the weather changes. I feel for him since he is not getting much sleep....too hard to breathe at night. Hopefully, after a couple more months, he will adjust to the pollins here and we wont have to deal with this. Only time will tell.

Two Peas in a Pod

Lil'Man and I went to visit family. We stayed with my sister and nephew. The boys had a blast playing with each other. They are so alike in ways......it is too cute. We actually pulled out old photos of my nephew and they could be twins. They are five years apart, roughly, but have alot of similar features.
It will be a short weekend but well worth it.

Lil'Man Growing Up!

So my lil'man reached 12 months, the big ONE! He now thinks he is Mr. Independent. He doesn't need me to hold him in the mornings, he sits like a big boy in his own chair. He requests his own fork or spoon to feed himself at every meal. He wants down, out of the car, so that he can walk to the front door himself. And I can tell that he wishes he could speak. We are working on his vocabulary, and sometimes what he wants to say is close, but he still gets frustrated when the message he is trying to send does not make it.
He is just the best little boy. I couldn't have asked for a better son.
